Although the tremendous evolution of the new technologies, the differences and incompatibilities between Windows and iOS have remained during the years. This fact has caused many problems for Apple users in their daily life, and they may have stopped someone's work or plans just because it is impossible to open a particular file. This is why I state this problem. As a user of an Apple product, I have suffered this type of problem more than once. It is a very common situation that easily annoys whoever is using a Mac.

Producing the right citation format in a short time without the need for any software

Sometimes it is needed to cite a paper while one is in a harry or has no access to a computer with installed scientific tools. In such situations citing a paper with famous citation formats such as MLA, APA or ISO 690, that expect enough information and a precise grammar, is a big challenge.

problems with Windows 10

Since Windows 10 became available to the public, not everyone has had a good experience. Some people have issues upgrading, others have been reporting compatibility issues, the Windows Store not updating apps and a numbers of other problems. Once people begin having issues almost by reflect the first thing that comes to mind is how can go back from Windows 10 to my previous version, in this case, Windows 7. If the one-month "trial" has passed there are two solutions. Here is one of them: Downgrade by clean installation

Managing the Research Sources Manually

In the process of conducting a research, one needs to always manage the research sources. This includes collecting, organising, citing, and sharing the research sources. The process of managing the research sources is a very challenging task if it would be done manually. The researcher should extract the citation information from different resources (e.g. papers or web-pages), make lists, save pdf files, convert the citations to the right format, share them with colleagues, etc.

Internet connection error: Unable to connect to the Proxy server

Can’t connect to your internet? If you’re having problem connecting to the internet while your other devices are able to connect to the internet, chances are, your proxy setting is configured wrongly or it is switched ‘on’. Now, a proxy server is a server that acts as an intermediary between your computer and other servers. Here is a solution for Microsoft Windows XP, 7 and 8 via Internet Explorer.

Eror 138 in Google Chrome

Error 138 is an indication from Google Chrome when it is unable to access the internet for some reason. You may get a similar error string -Error code: Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK _ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network.

Remembering LaTeX Commands

Latex is a document preparation system and markup language that has been widely used in scientific community. In order to use Latex in classical way (using a command-line), one should remember hundreds of LaTeX commands or always look in a command glossary (which wastes a lot of time).

Restricted access to WSJ articles online

The Wallstreet Journal restricts access to articles, that are visibly marked with a key. The title as well as the first few sentences of the article are visible and are then fading to white that finally leads to a gray bar that encourages it's readers to subscribe to the newspaper, or to login to their account to be able to read the full article. Whilst this problematic approach of the prestigious newspaper is understandable, the restriction of the most current articles, discourages visitors to read the paper.

Site won't show content without disabling AdBlock

As a countermeasure to disable the blocking of ads, many websites detect, if a user has installed an extension to block advertisements on their website. What follows is a prompt to either disable the use of these extensions, or to Whitelist the website in order to support all involved individuals of the creative process. Some websites even go so far as to prohibit the access to the site's content, if the AdBlock is not disabled.

Team merge coordination

To tackle this problem we created strict merging rules for our project. Every team member had to merge his branch into development and only when the first member had a running version, was the second allowed to start merging his part. Therefore we always had a running version and we saved a lot of time during development.
